In my opinion, the Hitachi C12FDH is a great tool, the adjustable laser guidance system works really well, and is bright enough for using regardless of the weather/lighting conditions. I found usage of the tool highly intuitive, and I believe this tool is a great choice for beginners and industry professionals alike.
It has a healthy selection of features, all aiding the user to create the perfect, precise cut. Overall, Hitachi have done a great job on this.
Laser Guidance System
The laser guidance system included with the Hitachi C12FDH is wonderful, unlike many other miter saws which have a fixed laser system; the Hitachi C12FDH includes an adjustable laser guidance system, allowing for you adjust the laser to the left and right, which is excellent, allowing for the user to optimize the tool according to their preferences.
The Hitachi C12FDH sports a competitive 1950W, 15 Amp motor – providing an abundance of power for any task you will ever throw at it, it will effortlessly slice through hardwoods like a hot knife through butter. The Motor also doesn’t displace too much heat towards to user, even after extended periods of use, which is definitely a positive of the Hitachi C12FDH. Regardless of what you plan to do with this miter saw, it definitely has enough power for all your needs, and also is future proof, should you ever decide to delve in to the world of denser materials.
The Hitachi C12FDH has an extremely attractive design, which is also highly ergonomic. It also sports the standard dark “bush” green and silver colour scheme adopted by Hitachi. One element of the design really stands out about this tool over the competition, this is the elastomer coating on the handle. This is a special rubber compound that is absolutely excellent at dampening the vibrations caused by the tool, it also aids fatigue and provides a comfortable usage. I found the tool design intuitive, and extremely easy to use – while being amazingly comfortable to use as well, even for prolonged periods of time.
Included with the purchase of this tool is a 32 tooth blade, while this is absolutely amazing for rough cutting, I recommend a higher tooth blade for accurate work, as you will get a much better quality cut with a finer blade. However, the included blade is usually perfect for the standard consumer’s needs.
Dust Collection System: One thing I noted about this tool was how powerful the dust system really is, it fills the bag almost effortlessly, which many tools won’t even after months of use. It will be even more efficient when connected to a shop vac.

“I have this saw for about a year now, right out the box it made true straight cuts and all the angle cuts were correct,I replaced the blade with a Diablo 80 tooth one for finish carpentry and it really makes a huge diference, I use it mostly for finish carpentry and it’s a really good saw for the price.”
“My husband loves it! I read several different reviews and write ups when trying to pick one as a Christmas gift for my husband. Based on the functions alone…this was the best ! And price was great!”
The abundance of features within the Hitachi C12FDH really makes for a great, user-friendly experience, which consequently ends with an absolutely great cut, every time. Regardless of what you plan to use this tool for, if you require accurate cuts – there is nothing better currently on the market. If accuracy is imperative for you, I recommend this over a sliding miter saw, as sliding miter saws tend to perform less accurate cuts due to the sliding mechanism.
For quick, accurate cuts – there really is no better option than the Hitachi C12FDH.
